A Glimpse into the Life of Martyr IPS Officer Narendra Kumar

IPS Narendra Kumar had a supposedly happy Family. His wife Madhurani Tewatia is an IAS officer posted in Gwalior. His Father Keshav Dev is a sub-inspector posted in Aligarh. His Father in Law  S P Singh  works for the Delhi Police.

Born in 1979, Kumar did his Masters in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University before deciding to try for the civil services. Having joined the IPS in 2009, he was posted in Bihar and Ujjain before joining office in Morena about 45 days ago.

Before their wedding, Kumar  had explained to his wife too that Lalpur (his native place) village was an intrinsic part of his life and she would have to accept it as her own. "They often visited the village and called on all the elders.

After killing Narendra Kumar, another officer targeted by Mafia

It has been less than 2 days since IPS Officer Narendra Kumar Singh was murdered, another officer has been attacked by Mafia in  Madhya Pradesh.

Alleged members of the sand mafia fired at the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and sub-divisional officer (Police) in Panna district Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place at Chandipati village in Ajaygarh area of Panna, over 400 km from Bhopal. The area is situated on the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border.

However, no injuries were reported.

“Along with SDOP, town inspector and some policemen, we were heading towards the area from where the mafia illegally transport sand. But soon, they started firing at us. We also fired a few rounds in retaliation. We are safe and have demanded more forces, which is reaching the spot,” SDM N.A. Gaud told IANS from the site of the incident.

The SDM said he suspected former dacoit Kuber Singh, who now conducts illegal transportation of sand, as having led the group that fired at them.

Superintendent of police Anal Maheshwari has rushed to the spot.

On the day of Holi, IPS officer Narendra Kumar was crushed to death in Morena when he tried to stop a tractor loaded with illegally-quarried stones.

narendra kumarOnline World has come up with tremendous support for the slain IPS officer Naen in Madhya Pradesh . People are crying out for Justice and punishment for the murderers.
One person says, “In our country even IPS officers are not safe……… then what will happen with common people…..Does a person have to pay his life just becoz he is honest? Is this the Nation for which Martyers like Bhagat singh, Azad ji sacrificed their life ?”

A Facebook Page has been launched to show solidarity to the martyr IPS Officer and seeking justice on his behalf. It has amassed support of over 4000 people.  All  are demanding a comprehensive investigation and enquiry.

Various groups are flooded with messages pertaning to the murder of Narendra and people are questioning the credibility of the MP Government in this matter. Some say that Govt is not acting  because its own men are involved in  the murder.  Meanwhile  the government has ruled out the possibility of a conspiracy to kill Narendra Kumar, saying the driver booked for murder was transporting sandstone for personal use.

He sent fake Parking Summons in Britain

A man in Britain, irritated with his neighbours’ habit of parking their cars on the pavement meant for the general public to walk, acted as a traffic warden and sent them 150 fake summons.

Christopher Povey, 41, created the tickets (summons) on his computer after downloading bogus documentation from an online joke shop. He would go out late at night to ‘book’ cars parked in his neighbourhood, the Daily Express reported.

He issued 150 fines in a fake parking ticket scam, a court heard.

In the morning, the owners would wake up to find the bills on their windscreens from the Greater Manchester Highways Safety Monitoring Partnership.

Tickets warned that the fine “for obstructing the pavement with a parked car” would be 35 pounds, rising to 60 pounds if not paid within 10 days.

Povey was arrested for fraud after the drivers alerted police in Greater Manchester’s Sale town.

In the court, Povey said he did all this after noticing a mother pushing her baby in a pram was nearly knocked down by a car because of vehicles obstructing the pavement.

District judge Mark ­Hadfield told Povey that he was doing what one would expect a traffic warden to do.

“I accept the general concern for parking. But you acted in a ­dishonest way to obtain money from the owners of motor vehicles. It seems to me your account has inherent weaknesses.”

At Trafford Magistrates’ Court, Povey denied fraud by misrepresentation but was found guilty.

Saif Ali Khan Shown Black Flag in Bhopal

saif_ali_khanBollywood star Saif Ali Khan was shown black flags in Bhopal . Locals were  protesting the decision to appoint a Saudi national as the caretaker of the guest houses built by the erstwhile Nawabs of Bhopal for Haj pilgrims to Mecca.

Saif, the titular Nawab of Bhopal, was in the city Friday night to see the World Series Hockey game between Bhopal Badshahs and Delhi Wizards and to promote his forthcoming film “Agent Vinod”.

The protesters, led by Congress leader Arif Masood, also threatened that Saif’s films will not be screened in the city until an Indian national is re-appointed as caretaker of ‘Rubaats’, or the guest houses in Saudi Arabia where Haj pilgrims, especially from Bhopal, stay during Haj.

“There were 45 ‘Rubaats’ of the Hyderabad Nizam in Saudi Arabia but their number came down to one after Saudi nationals were appointed as caretakers,” Arif Masood told reporters, explaining the reason for protesting the decision.

There are at least seven rubaats which comes under Aukaf-e-Shahi, or the religious endowment trust of the erstwhile Nawabs of Bhopal.

Last year, after the demise of Saif’s father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who was ‘mutawalli’ or administrator of the trust, his elder daughter Saba Ali Khan took his place.

Soon thereafter, the caretaker of rubaats, who was an Indian, was replaced by a Saudi national. The decision has been widely criticized by locals.

It was not clear who gave the order, but Aukaf-e-Shahi secretary Anwar Muhammad Khan resigned from the post on the controversy.

Saif’s grandmother was the daughter of the last reigning Nawab of Bhopal and succeeded him as the titular ruler.

HIV Cure found in Cancer medicine

Cancer medicineUS Scientists have discovered a cure of HIV Infection in a drug  which has been uused to cure lymphoma, a cancer affecting immune cells.

In a clinical trial, HIV-infected men on anti-AIDS drugs, administered cancer drug vorinostat had, within hours, a significant increase in HIV RNA in these cells, showing that the virus was being forced out of its hiding place.

Previous studies by David Margolis, professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, have shown that vorinostat also attacks enzymes that hide HIV in certain CD4+ T cells, specialized immune cells that the virus uses to replicate.

While current antiretroviral therapies can very effectively control virus levels, they can never fully eliminate the virus from the cells and tissues it has infected, according to a California statement.

“Lifelong use of antiretroviral therapy is problematic for many reasons, not least among them are drug resistance, side-effects, and cost. This (is) the first step towards curing HIV infection,” said Margolis, who led the study.

Margolis’ new study demonstrates that biological mechanism keeping HIV virus hidden and unreachable can be targeted and interrupted in humans, providing new hope for a strategy to eradicate HIV completely, according to a California statement.

“It shows that this class of drugs, HDAC inhibitors, can attack persistent virus. Vorinostat may not be the magic bullet, but this success shows us a new way to test drugs to target latency, and suggests that we can build a path that may lead to a cure.”

These results were presented at the 19th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Seattle, Washington.

Akhilesh: The Journey from Football to Chief Minister Office

akhilesh yadavBeing the son of former CM,  Akhilesh Yadav always  had a political mindset , but his favorite past time include playing Football and  watching Movies.  The  38-years-old  son of  a socialist  veteran  however  considers a  communist his Guru.
Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, shedding light on this little known fact, told IANS that when Akhilesh was elected in a by-election from Kannauj, a seat vacated by his father, it was then Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee who saw “the spark in Akhilesh”.

The former CPI-M leader had suggested that Akhilesh be “allowed to be on his own”.

Mulayam seemingly took the advice seriously and allowed ‘Tipu’, as Akhilesh Yadav is fondly called in the family, to have a free run in scripting his political career.

Today, the man born July 1, 1973 is set to be the youngest chief minister of India’s most politically crucial state.

Following a near rout in the 2007 assembly polls, when Mayawati romped back with a 203-member majority, Mulayam Singh handed over the party reigns to his son Akhilesh in 2009. The environmental engineer from Sydney University was appointed the state president of SP.

Until then, Akhilesh was content being in the backseat and enjoying life like any other young man. Movies and football were his favourite pasttimes and he loved riding on a specially made bicycle to be fit.

By 2010, political acumen began to set in and Akhilesh Yadav started asserting himself in party matters and began infusing young blood into the party structure.

With his own young staff advising him on day to day issues, Akhilesh Yadav “churned the party mindset” and began breaking the traditional style of party functioning. Soon Blackberrys and smart phones rolled into the party office.

He would move around the state, an i-Pad in tow, with an exhaustive database of the state and the assembly constituencies being flipped over and deliberated upon.

A passout of Dholpur Military School, Rajasthan, Akhilesh was soon on his own and was networking with ground level workers of the party and making a serious effort to woo the young voter.

His political career hit a trough when Dimple, his wife of 10 years, was made the party candidate for the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat. She lost to one time party leader and now Congress candidate Raj Babbar.

It was then that the party decided to get rid of close Mulayam Singh aide Amar Singh and the Yadav clan, led by Rajya Sabha member Ram Gopal Yadav, decided to throw in their towel.

The demand was simple – back to basics, the family and expulsion of Amar Singh. Akhilesh joined the chorus to “ease Amar Uncle” out, and started to drive the political fortunes of his party in the state.

Mulayam Singh, by now shadowed by ailments, began to guide Akhilesh from the sidelines of his role in national politics.

Akhilesh’s assertion on probity in public life and safe distancing from known dons, hitherto the party favourites, raised many an eyebrow. But the Yadav chieftain allowed him to work in his own way.

In 2011, when the polls were announced for the 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh took charge and picked the party candidates.

With a cut here and there, it was largely his choice, party insiders say. By the time campaigning ended in the seven-phased polls, Akhilesh had travelled more than 300 constituencies in a specially re-modelled bus, the Kranti Rath.

He scripted a historic win for the SP, which bagged 224 seats in the 403-member assembly.

Akhilesh is set to wear the Uttar Pradesh crown March 15 – a decision that triggered celebrations at the 19, Vikramaditya Marg office of the Samajwadi Party (SP) here Saturday.

In doing so, however, the doting father may have disappointed his three kids Aditi, Tina and Arjun a wee bit – because all this while the youngest of the Yadav clan were rooting for their ‘dadu’ or granddad Mulayam Singh as chief minister.

India wont have Aerobatics Show Off at Aviation 2012

fighter planeIndia Aviation 2012, the international exhibition and conference on civil aviation, will have no aerobatics show this time in view of an Indian Navy plane crash in the 2010 edition.

The ministry of civil aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the organisers, have decided not to have aerobatic display as part of the five-day event beginning here March 14.

Lt. Col. Vivek Kodikal, regional director (trade fairs), FICCI, told reporters here Saturday that the decision was not because of the incident of March 4, 2010 at Begumpet airport in the city.

“As per norms for a civil air show, there can’t be aerobatics by aircrafts of services. We felt it is a pure civil aviation show and there is no requirement for hiring services aircrafts to perform aerobatics,” he said.

He pointed out that aerobatics in India are performed only by the navy and the air force. Permission is not given to civil aircraft for the aerobatics.

Two Navy pilots died and two people were injured when their plane crashed during the inaugural event in 2010.

India to come up with Software Technology Park in Mizoram

The central government will soon set up a software technology park in Mizoram tor boost IT in northeast India and software exports from India, official said Saturday.

“The Mizoram government has provided five acres of land in the Mizoram University campus to set up the park,” an official of the state industries and commerce department said.

The land was given to the Software Technological Park of India (STPI) authority on a 66-year lease.

An agreement will be signed soon between the STPI authority, the state government and the Mizoram University, said the official.

The proposed STP in Aizawl would be the fourth center in northeast India after the Guwahati, Imphal and Gangtok STPs.

Obama inducts 2 more Indians in White House

white houseUS President Barack Obama , known for this strong critiscism  of India  has added to more Indians, to his administrative crew. They are  Paula Gangopadhyay and Sonny Ramaswamy.

While Indore educated Paula Gangopadhyay was named member, National Museum and Library Services Board, Bangalore educated Sonny Ramaswamy was named Director, National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

“These dedicated individuals bring a wealth of experience and talent to their new roles and I am proud to have them serve in this Administration. I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come,” he said in making seven new appointments.

Currently the Chief Learning Officer at The Henry Ford, where she is responsible for leadership, strategy, and education, Gangopadhyay has held a variety of positions in education and arts policy.

These include Executive Director of the Plymouth Community Arts Council from 2006 to 2008; Curator at the Public Museum of Grand Rapids from 2002 to 2006; and Executive Director of the Great Lakes Centre for Education, Research and Practice from 2000 to 2001.

Gangopadhyay has served as a member of many state and national boards, including the Michigan Humanities Council. She received her BA and MA from Indore University, and her post-graduate certification in archival, museum and editing studies from Duquesne University.

Ramaswamy is Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University and Director of the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station.

Previously, Ramaswamy was Associate Dean of the Purdue University College of Agriculture and directed the University’s agricultural research programmes from 2006 to 2009.

Prior to joining the Purdue faculty, Ramaswamy was head of the Department of Entomology at Kansas State University from 1997 to 2006, where he held the title of Distinguished Professor.

Ramaswamy received a BS and MS in Entomology from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore, India, and a PhD in Entomology from Rutgers University.

Meanwhile, Obama has found a replacement for America’s first Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Indian American Aneesh Chopra who quit last month apparently to try his hand at politics.

Chopra’s successor Todd Park has served as CTO of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) since August 2009, where he has been an agent for change, according to the White House.
