When China cautioned its Nationals travelling in India

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 08:13 AM PDT

It has been reported that  China recently cautioned its citizens travelling to India. The Chinese foreign ministry website as well as the Chinese embassy in New Delhi posted an advisory on June 1 that warned of travel disruptions due to protests.

The advisory is seen here by some as a retaliatory move against New Delhi issuing advisories warning its traders against doing business in the Chinese commodity hub of Yiwu.

The travel advisory was posted barely days before External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna’s June 5-7 trip to Beijing to attend the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Krishna would leave for Beijing  on Tuesday.

Beijing has, however, denied any link.  ”There is no link between the two. The advisory was based on Indian media reports about the nationwide strike against fuel price hike,” Li Xiaojun, an official with the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, told IANS.

“According to Indian media reports, many places in India are witnessing protests and strikes due to the recent hike in oil prices. Railways and highway transport have either come to a halt due to strikes or have been impacted to different degrees,” the advisory said.

“Some shops have closed. Presently, impacted areas include: Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Patna in Bihar, Allahabad and Varanasi in UP, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa etc,” it said.

The Chinese embassy in India, the advisory said, would like to alert the Chinese citizens about this and request them to confirm their itinerary with related agencies to avoid delays.

At the same time, during this period, they should be careful about personal safety and safeguard their personal belongings,” it said.

The travel advisory by China and its timing has come as a surprise to India as it comes at a time when both sides are making conscious efforts to keep bilateral ties on an even keel.

What Sachin Tendulkar will do in the Parliament ?

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 07:37 AM PDT

Sachin Tendulkar MPCricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who was nominated to Rajya Sabha on April 27, today took oath as a Rajya Sabha member.

Critics claim that he was inducted into the Parliament due to Political reasons and that he  should rather be given Bharat Ratna, the highest Civilian Award.  His role in Cricket ground was more important than that in Rajya Sabha.

As far as his fans are concerned, majority of them donot want him in Parliament. There has been tremendous protest across Social media against this move. Put simple Netizens donot want Sachin to be involved in the mesh of Politicians which is the beehive of corruption  and all sorts of malpractices.

Amid these Sachin has said that he would take care for all Sports not just Cricket. ”I will be happy if I am remembered as someone who contributed to all sports rather than just to cricket statistics. That will be fantastic,” he said.

When asked about, whether  he would get enough time to devote to parliament?
Sachin replied: “I am a nominee, and I did not go to anyone saying I want to become a Rajya Sabha member. It is an honour which I accept with full respect.

“I am here because of my cricketing career and I cannot take any focus away from cricket because that is where it all started for me.

“My focus will be on cricket. As and when there is time in between, I will look at other things and see how I can help and bringing whatever changes not (just) in cricket but other sports (too),” he added.

And then he added something with a Political Tongue

I believe there might be a few obstacles and challenges, and I need help from my fellow parliamentarians, the administrators, media and our countrymen. I think together we can make lot of changes,” he said.

Now read two contrasting  statements made by him today,

I always have this dream of giving back to cricket… I strongly believe whatever I am today is because of cricket.

AND

My focus will be on cricket. As and when there is time in between, I will look at other things and see how I can help and bringing whatever changes not (just) in cricket but other sports (too).

The way  he cleverly put two opposite lines shows that the Cricketing legend has mastered the language of Parliament. He might plan to play another innings in Parliament also, may be  at Lok Sabha.

Future will tell us whether Sachin as MP would be beneficial to the field of sports or it becomes the reason for his downfall, but for the moment lets rejoice for his grandeur achievement.

MilkyWay heading towards head-on Collision with Andromeda

Posted: 04 Jun 2012 04:12 AM PDT

Milky WayBeware, Our  galaxy Milky Way is  heading towards  massive  head-on collision  another galaxy Andromeda. According to scientists, this collision is likely to tak place within  four billion years from now :-)

The Andromeda galaxy is now 2.5 million light-years away, but it is inexorably falling toward the Milky Way under the mutual pull of gravity between the two galaxies and the invisible dark matter that surrounds them both, according to scientists.

“After nearly a century of speculation about the future destiny of Andromeda and our Milky Way, we at last have a clear picture of how events will unfold over the coming billions of years,” said Sangmo Tony Sohn of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), Baltimore, US.

The scenario is like a baseball batter watching an oncoming fastball. Although Andromeda is approaching us more than two thousand times faster, it will take four billion years before the strike, according to a STScI statement.

“Our findings are statistically consistent with a head-on collision between the Andromeda galaxy and our Milky Way galaxy,” said Roeland van der Marel of STScI.

The solution came through painstaking NASA Hubble Space Telescope measurements of the motion of Andromeda, which also is known as M31.

Computer simulations derived from Hubble’s data show that it will take an additional two billion years after the encounter for the interacting galaxies to completely merge under the tug of gravity and reshape into a single elliptical galaxy, according to researchers.

It is likely the Sun will be flung into a new region of our galaxy, but the Earth and solar system are in no danger of being destroyed, researchers add.

Although the galaxies will plough into each other, stars inside each galaxy are so far apart that they will not collide with other stars during the encounter. However, the stars will be thrown into different orbits around the new galactic centre, say researchers.

I will let everyone know when I will stop playing cricket,” he said when asked how he would assuage people who raise questions whether he would be able to do justice to the job in Parliament when he is still playing cricket.”.

Amid speculation of his joining Team Anna, Ex- Army Chief Gen. V K Singh has supported the fight of  Team Anna and Baba Ramdev.  He was at Vrindavan to offer prayers  at the famous Banke Bihari temple.

When asked about the Anti-graft agitation, he called it  ”timely and valid”. He said that corruption was a major issue in the country and it was upto the government to devise ways to tackle it.

He however declined to join Politics.  Gen. Singh said that while there were many issues facing the nation, he did not have any “immediate plan” to join politics.

Gen. Singh refused to talk about his 42-year tenure with the Indian Army – beyond saying that he had come to thank God that it had passed off peacefully – citing confidentiality on many issues. He also hoped that the government would do all it can to maintain the honour of the force.

At the end all was good and I wanted to thank God for his blessings” , he added.
