New Bihar- Nepal Railway Track to be finished by 2014 Posted: 22 Feb 2012 02:30 AM PST Bihar – Nepal Rail links will be re-instated soon, this time with broad gauge track. The Train would ply between Bathnaha in Araria district and Biratnagar (Nepal) along 18 km rail route. This would be the only rail link between India and Nepal. Work on the new rail line is being carried out and the train is likely to be flagged off in another 2 years. 5 km of the new rail line falls in India while the rest falls in Nepal. The whole project would cost Indian Railways Rs 248 crores. Incidentally, it was the dream project of then Rail Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav who laid the foundation stone of the new line in 2007. The railways also proposed to upgrade the Bathnaha railway station into a model station which will provide better amenities to commuters from across the border as well. |
India asks Google and Yahoo to route all emails through local Servers Posted: 22 Feb 2012 01:32 AM PST Government has asked major email providers including Yahoo and Google to enroute all the emails accessed in India through Indian servers. The move comes in the wake of instances where security agencies could not have a real-time access to some emails as they were registered outside the country but were opened in India. During a recent high-level meeting held in the office of Union Home Secretary R K Singh, the Department of Information Technology (DIT) was asked to take up the matter at the earliest with the content providers. During the meeting, director general from CERT-in informed that content provider Yahoo automatically locates all email accounts registered in India to the server in India, minutes of the meeting said. However, Yahoo accounts registered outside India and subsequently accessed from India are routed through servers outside India, it said. “It was decided to advice Yahoo, Gmail etc that all emails accessed from India should be routed through servers in India,” it said, adding that the DIT would take up the matter with the content providers. The need for this was felt after security agencies failed to access accounts of suspected terrorists of Indian Mujahideen during the surveillance period as the same had been opened in a European country. When the content provider was approached, the sleuths were told that in order to see the mails, which had been accessed from India, a request to a European nation where the server was based, was required, official sources said. |

Several amenities inside it is getting upgraded. In a similar step, Battery operated cars were started in the Zoo last year. The zoo lake is also in for a new look. “A total of three fountains are being installed in the lake. They will beautify the lake and also draw more boat riders,” said a senior official. Besides, work is also in progress for renovating the zoo’s railway station meant for ‘toy train’. The railway station’s shed is small and does not cover the entire train when it stops there.
